Thrive Pathway Activity 30

Pray With Your Family

Praying as a family is an important part of your spiritual life. Being spiritually vulnerable with your family not only deepens your relationship with God but also each other. You should pray with your children. It is important for them to see their parents' private spiritual lives, and it allows them to understand that prayer is more than “saying grace” before meals. Praying with your spouse allows you to be able to open up about your spiritual struggles and encourage one another.

Scripture:

Colossians 4:2
"Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving."

Details:

  • Have everyone talk about how they see God moving in their lives.
  • Share the issues with which you are struggling. With younger children, try to share more generalities that they could possibly relate to and understand.
  • Talk about people that your family wants to pray for such as those who are sick, missionaries, people that are far from God, etc.
  • Pray for each other.
