Develop A Daily Prayer Life

Prayer is communication with God. It is both talking to God and listening to God speak. A daily discipline of prayer allows you to commune with God. He desires to have a relationship with you. As you learn to talk to and listen to God, that relationship deepens.

Scripture:

Jeremiah 33:3
"Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known."

Develop a discipline of intentionally setting a time and place for a daily prayer time. Make it the same time and place each day.  An acrostic guide that you might follow is  A C T S:

  • A - Adoration...Spend the first few moments adoring God. Worship Him for his attributes as God.
  • C - Confession...Confess any sin in your life to him. He knows you and wants to forgive you of any wrongdoing.
  • T - Thanksgiving...Thank God for all that He has provided for you: family, church, food, relationships, etc.
  • S - Supplication...Ask God to provide for your needs. He wants to give you good gifts.

Check out an online prayer app. Try a couple to determine if one of them helps you in directed prayer. Echo Prayer and First 15 are examples. Try keeping a prayer journal of answered prayers.  Keeping a simple list of what you are praying about and then recording when and how God answers can be a meaningful tool.
