Memorize and Understand Romans 12: 1-2
Throughout the book of Romans, Paul lays out a very reasoned
discussion of the gospel and the Christian faith. Paul begins Chapter
12 with “Therefore,” meaning because of the gospel. The gospel is the
good news of God’s plan for you, and you should respond to God in this
way; “…offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to
God." This does not mean just going to church on Sunday, reading the
Bible, or saying prayers before dinner. It means living all of your
everyday life seeking God’s will in your life and then obeying His call.
Living a life as a sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, also means
there will be things in the world around you that you should avoid. “Do
not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind...” Living a life of sacrifice means your faith,
challenges, daily schedule, and activities are based on your love for
God, which should be growing all the time. How is your faith and
obedience growing today in a different way than it was six months ago?
Scripture:
Romans 12:1-2
“Therefore,
my brothers, in view of God’s mercy, offer your body as a living
sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. Do not conform to the pattern of
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and in this
way you will know God’s will---His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
