Thrive Pathway Activity 7

Memorize and Understand John 3:16

One of the best known and most loved verses of scripture for Christians is John 3:16. The reason it is so loved is because of how it expresses God’s love and His plan for every person. Memorizing this verse gives you a place to turn when the challenges of life cause you to question God’s love. This verse is a refuge in place to remind you that God loves you. God did not just say He loved you; He proved it. He gave “His one and only Son.” This loving gift makes it possible for you to have a relationship with Him, and this relationship means that you will live forever with Him in Heaven.

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

Psalm 119:11
“Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Divide this verse into five phrases. Begin with the first, and read it until you can repeat it without reference. Then, add the second phrase, but always start at the beginning. Repeat this process until you have the verse committed to memory. Review weekly. Memorize the verse with others.
Teach this verse to someone else to help learn it.
