Memorize and Understand 2 Timothy 3:16 - 17

Memorizing scripture has several benefits for you. First, being able to have God’s word committed to your memory keeps it in your thoughts and mind. Secondly, it keeps your mind thinking about God’s word throughout the day. Thirdly, God will bring a memorized scripture to your memory in situations where it is needed.

Scripture:

2 Timothy 3:16-17
"All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

Details:

  • Write out the scripture on index cards, and put them in prominent places such as the bathroom mirror, desks, refrigerator, etc.
  • Practice saying the scripture at meals, before bed, or as you wake.
  • Practice memorizing it with Grow Group friends, family members, and co-workers.
  • Pray through the scripture daily.
  • Look it up in a commentary and learn what it means.
  • Talk with others about what the scripture means.
  • Practice writing it down.
  • Read it and memorize it in different versions/translations of the Bible.
  • Have others challenge you in reciting the scripture.
