Thrive Pathway Activity 53

Have Spiritual Conversations With Non-Believers

Looking for opportunities to talk with people about spiritual issues in a friendly and non-threatening way is a way to share the gospel. It is easy to have spiritual conversations with other believers. It can seem intimidating and difficult to have a meaningful spiritual conversation with those who do not consider themselves a Christian. Here are some things to consider that will help you to draw others into a sacred conversation.

1 Peter 3:15
"But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;"

Using the approach below will help you avoid arguments and help lead into a natural spiritual conversation. Get to know them personally. Most people love to talk about themselves, their hobbies, their interests, their job, their family, their history, their dreams. Start with a natural conversation.

Ask friendly questions. Questions are non-threatening and can help lower defenses. Ask questions such as the following ones.

  • What do you believe?
  • Who is Jesus to you?
  • If you were to die, where would you go?
  • Ask if you can pray for them. Even non-believers will be grateful that you care for them and their needs. Invite them to church or a fellowship activity.
    Attend a Core4Kids Class.
