Q. Where will the Southcliff Students be going this year?
A. We have a
group of middle school students and leaders who will take a mission trip to New
Orleans, LA from March 14 – 20, 2026. They will serve with Mission Lab at New
Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Our tasks will include a variety of
ministries in the community. Our high
school students and leaders will be traveling to Taichung, Taiwan from July
3-14 in order to assist Hope Fellowship with their Vacation Bible School.
Q. What is the "Take Stock in Student Missions"
fundraiser?
A. Every
day, people gain and lose money on the stock market. Often, we invest in
organizations we know little about. We are offering you an opportunity to
invest in the life of a young Christian by sending him or her to the mission
field. The anticipated dividends will not be financial, but eternal.
Q. How does it work?
A. The cost
for this mission trip is beyond what many families can afford. Teenagers who
are going on these mission trips are looking for financial sponsors. They have
a set of stock certificates that are available to "investors" for $20
each. For a $20 investment in this teenager, you will receive a custom stock
certificate, complete with an invitation to the "Stockholders’ Report” on
Wednesday July 29 at 6:30 PM. Most
importantly, you will have the knowledge that you are helping make a difference
in the life of this student.
Q. What if I want my gift to be more than $20?
A. Students will
only manage stock transactions in $20 increments. You may, of course, buy more
than one share of stock from
a student or buy
shares from multiple students. Any donations that are not in $20 increments
will need to be paid directly
to the church
office. If you like, these donations can be distributed at our discretion to
students that need it the most.
Q. Why not just have a love offering?
A. This type of
fundraiser is like a love offering, but it is much more personal. By acquiring
stock in a student missionary, you will
be supporting
an individual--a young person who might not be able to go except for your gift.
Hopefully, you will also commit to
pray for this
student as they prepare for this mission endeavor.
Q. Where can a student missionary be located so I may buy
stock?
A. Students going on
the mission trip will be in the Concourse or near the Information Center before
and after each service on
Sunday mornings.
Q. What is the best way to make my donation?
A. A check written
to Southcliff Baptist Church, cash, or online. Please give the funds directly
to the student. The student will give you a certificate at the time you make
your contribution. DO NOT MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO THE STUDENT.
Q. How do I pay for the stock online?
A. 1) Go to www.southcliff.com/give. 2) Select “One Time” and indicate the amount you want to give. 3) In
the drop-down menu, select either “Middle School Mission Trip” or “High School
Mission Trip.” 4) Click the “NOTE”
button to the right of the name of the trip and write the name of the
student. 5) Follow the instructions to
complete your payment.
Q. When is the final day I may acquire stock?
A. Your final
opportunity to invest in a student will be Sunday morning, March 8 (middle
school) and March 22 (high school).
Q. Is my donation tax deductible?
A. Yes--your
donation is tax deductible. You are donating to this Southcliff mission trip,
not a person. It is the intent of the Student Ministry Office to distribute
these funds to the student you agreed to sponsor. If that student is
unavailable to attend the trip, the funds would be used to help another team
member.
Q. What if an individual, business, Grow Group, or other
group wishes to buy a stock certificate from each of the students?
A. Please contact
Stu Cocanougher, our Share Pastor, if you desire to help in this way.
