THRIVE

It can be easy to view life with a level of insecurity, pessimism, or even fear.   With so many changes happening in our society, our economy, and our personal lives, some people are living their lives in survival mode.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.  (John 10:10)

Jesus said that he came to give us a life that is full.  This is more than a hopeful wish.  Many of us have had a life-changing encounter with Christ.  We have discovered that even in uncertain times, we can experience a life that Thrives.

The mission of Southcliff is to guide people of all generations and backgrounds into a THRIVING relationship with Christ.  In fact, we have identified four relationships that are evident in a life that thrives:

A GROWING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Many people around the world believe in God, revere God, even pray to God.  But scripture tells us that God wants us to do more than just believe in Him.  He is a loving parent that wants to adopt us into his family.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

God made a way for us to have a close relationship with him.  This is not found through meditation or good works.  By the grace of God, Jesus made a way for us to be forgiven of our sins—now able for God to call us His daughters and sons.

Do you know for certain that you have been forgiven of your sins?  Before your life can thrive, you must have a right relationship with God.   Please visit the Experiencing Life-Change page.

We believe that placing your faith in Christ is only the beginning of our spiritual walk.  That is why we talk about having a growing relationship with God.   Southcliff offers two weekly opportunities that are focused on this relationship.

The first is our weekly worship experience.  You and your family are invited to join us at either 9:20 AM or 11:00 AM for a service where the music and the message will help you experience God in a fresh way.  To find out more, visit our WORSHIP page.

One of the best ways to grow in your faith is to participate in a “Grow Group.”  We offer a wide variety of groups for every age.  Grow Groups allow you to study the Bible in-depth, while also growing together as a group of friends.

To find out more about how you can be a part of a group like this, visit our GROW page.

A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR FAMILY

Our society is one that values busyness and over-extending ourselves.  We are rewarded for being over-committed to our jobs, community organizations; even our churches.  This can have a negative impact on our families.

Love the LORD God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  (Deuteronomy 6:5-7)

At Southcliff, we believe that having a life that THRIVES includes having a healthy relationship with our family.   For married couples, this means having a marriage which is characterized by godly love and respect.  For parents, this means raising our children to honor God.  For singles, this means that you relate to your parents and even your extended family in a way that glorifies God.  We also teach children and teens to honor their parents as the Bible instructs.

Southcliff has an exciting ministry for families that have children and teenagers.  These ministries are designed to compliment parents' efforts in raising up children who are growing in their own faith.  For more information about these ministries, check out the Kids and Youth pages.

AN ACTIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR CHURCH

From the beginning of time, groups of God’s people have gathered together to rely on one another as they experienced the ups and downs of life.

Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God,

but our lives as well. (I Thessalonians 2:8)

A church is a local gathering of people who serve one another as they grow in their relationship with God.  Southcliff’s mission statement makes it clear that our church family is made up of “all generations and backgrounds.”

For some people, attending worship services is seen as a “Christian duty” or a means to earn God’s favor.  At Southcliff, it is our hope that attending worship services, Grow Groups, and other opportunities are a homecoming—an opportunity for our local church family to gather together and to encourage one another.

We also believe that we are to serve one another.  In fact, Southcliff’s SERVE strategy is there to help us find a place of service.  To find a place to get involved at Southcliff, visit the SERVE page.

A MISSIONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WORLD

A life that Thrives is not a self-centered life.  God’s plan for His people is to make a difference in the lives of people in their community—and around the world.

Then Jesus came to them and said, "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)

Southcliff’s SHARE strategy is focused on helping you to discover ways for you to share the love and message of Christ with the world.  This may take a variety of forms:  feeding the homeless, sharing your faith story with co-workers, or taking a mission trip to another country.

For more information about the wide variety of opportunities that Southcliff has, visit our SHARE page.
