Southcliff Baptist Church

For several months, Southcliff Baptist Church has been in an intensive strategic self study. Our staff has spent hours in prayer and has been evaluating our current ministry in light of what we believe God has led us to accomplish. In defining Southcliff’s focus on the church’s mission, one of the more difficult decisions we have had to make is to close Weekday Preschool at the end of this session.

I know that this seems sudden to each of you, but I assure you that we did not come to this decision lightly. Southcliff has had a long history of providing a spiritual foundation for children and we are grateful for the impact that we have been able to make in the lives of so many through this ministry. We are dedicated to continuing this commitment through our preschool and children’s ministries.

The teaching staff that God has brought to us through these years has always nothing short of amazing. We are grateful for the excellent care and leadership they have provided for the children of this ministry, and our decision to close is not related to any individual. We know that this decision may be misunderstood but it is our desire to move forward in the direction God has given and to steward the resources God has given us wisely.

Valerie Perkins has done an excellent job as director this past year and I am so grateful to her for her strong leadership and positive attitude in the face of change and I know she will continue to lead through this time of transition.
