Preteen Ministry (5-6th Grade)

Guiding preteens into a thriving relationship with Christ.

The Uplink Preteen Ministry is a ministry for 5th and 6th grade children at Southcliff. The preteen years are a time of big transitions for both children and parents, as the preteen encounters new opportunities for independence and new challenges for their Christian walk. Uplink seeks to help preteens learn to confront these challenges with Godly wisdom and to give parents resources to do the same—leading our preteens to have a thriving Christian life.

On Sunday Mornings at Uplink, preteens will meet in small age-graded groups to study God’s Word with an adult who’s excited about God’s work in their lives. They will learn what it means to have a Godly character and how He develops that within them, as well as learning and practicing core spiritual disciplines like personal Bible Study and prayer. Uplink meets on Sunday mornings at 9:20 in the Southcliff Annex Building.

On Wednesday evenings at Uplink, preteens will take on a more hands-on approach to the knowledge they’ve gained on Sunday mornings. Children will worship together through praise music and a message from the Bible, and they will share in small groups their personal experiences with living the message out through the week. Wednesday nights is also often an opportunity for participation in service opportunities within the church, or for special events any preteen will want to bring their friends to. Uplink meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 in the Southcliff Annex Building.

There are four relationships that can define a thriving Christian life. It is these four relationships that we have built our Uplink ministry around.

A Growing Relationship with God

At Southcliff we will challenge preteens to build their relationship with Christ and develop Godly character.

A Healthy Relationship with Family

We will help preteens deepen their relationship with their family, and help parents relate to their preteen in healthy ways.

An Active Relationship with the Church

We will teach the importance of service and fellowship as a member of the church and provide opportunities for our preteens to serve the church.

A Missional Relationship with the World

We will teach preteens how to share the basics of their faith and challenge them to an authentic Christian faith in the world.
