Southcliff Sends 57 to Hong Kong
Southcliff Sends 57 to Hong Kong — August 14th
by Stu Cocanougher, Share Pastor
From June 19 to July 9, a group of 57 men, women, and families from Southcliff took part in one of the largest overseas mission trips in Southcliff’s history. This “Share Team” took part in a variety of projects including evangelistic concerts, street drama, and Bible distribution. Three of our Southcliff strategy pastors provided leadership for the trip: Stu Cocanougher (Share Pastor), Warren Pearson (Worship Pastor) and Bryan Gilmore (Grow Pastor).
The team was engaged in scripture distribution every day and was able to hand out over 6,000 Bibles, New Testaments, or Gospels of John! Most of these were in the Chinese language and were handed to tourists from Mainland China.
Our team saw five decisions to follow Christ and we are sure that many more will come to Christ in the days ahead.
Some of the sweetest memories from the trip include opportunities to worship along with Filipino Christians (mostly women) who are serving in Hong Kong as overseas domestic workers. Most of them are separated from their families for years and are engaged in difficult working conditions.
Do you know someone who was a part of our Mission Trip to Hong Kong? If so, ask them about their experience. Everyone who went has at least one story to tell about God’s provision.
Finally, pray for the churches in Hong Kong and Macau. Many of them face a lot of barriers to reaching people for Christ. Also, pray for our IMB missionaries who are engaged in ministry in one of the most influential cities in the world.
