Upcoming Share Seminar: Reaching Buddhists with the Gospel
Upcoming Share Seminar: Reaching Buddhists with the Gospel — October 13th
by Stu Cocanougher, Share Strategy Pastor
There are over 400 million Buddhists in the world today.
1.2 million Americans claim to be Buddhist. You may have a neighbor, friend, or coworker with a Buddhist background. Most Buddhists in the world have an Asian heritage.
As evangelical Christians, we believe that God wants to draw all people to Himself through a personal faith in Jesus Christ. But how do you share the good news with someone who has a Buddhist worldview?
You are invited to a special two-part “Share Seminar” on October 29 and November 5 from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall led by Brent Sorrels.
Brent is the director of Pan Asian Outreach and Outreach Port Arthur. He is a people group missionary with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. He is married to Savannah and they have six children. He earned his MDiv from Southwestern Theological Seminary in 2004. From 2002-2004, the Sorrels served as international missionaries with the IMB in Costa Rica. They have served as NAMB Missionaries in Port Arthur from 2005-2013.
Brent has been studying the Vietnamese language for many years and can often be found leading a Bible study in the home of Vietnamese families in North Dallas. Brent’s desire to see Buddhist background people come to Jesus has led him to study Christian apologetics as it relates to Buddhism. He is one of Southcliff’s “Share Partners” and has partnered with Southcliff on many mission trips.
We are excited to host Brent as he helps us learn to share the gospel with Buddhist background families.
There is no cost for the training, but you will need to register in advance. To reserve your spot, email firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up on Sunday at the Information Center in the concourse.
